You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me. John 5:39 WEB
When you search the scriptures, the psalms, the prophets, and the law received by Moses predate and testify to the coming of Christ and the love of God. The circumstances surrounding his birth, his teaching, and the miracles of Jesus offer proof that he is the Messiah. Many people reject Jesus, not because there isn’t enough evidence or proof of his claim, but because they are unwilling to believe.
It is a misconception that the followers of Jesus and those who believe in God have an unreasonable belief or “blind faith.” In truth, there is evidence of God’s existence. When you search the scriptures, you find that the prophets predict the coming of Christ. But some refuse to believe even after experiencing proof.
Faith Is a Choice
The Jewish people who encourage Aaron to fashion a golden calf for their worship after experiencing the miracles of the Exodus knew first hand of God’s presence, providence, and goodness. Yet, they rejected him in favor of a sinful lifestyle.
David declares the creation as evidence of our Creator. He writes in Psalm 19:1-2, “The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows his handiwork. Day after day they pour out speech, and night after night they display knowledge. WEB” Whether we receive human testimony, observe the work of God’s creation, or you search the scriptures, we choose to believe or disbelieve.
The Glory of God
The law and word of God expose our wickedness. Each of us has broken God’s commandments. As we read in 3:23, “for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God. WEB” The Spirit of God through our conscience convicts us of our misdeeds and yet some still reject Jesus’ message. But, our Savior calls us to repent from sin and reconcile with God.
Christ explains why men reject him and refuse God’s grace. The Lord says in John 3:19-20, “This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed. WEB”
Prayer: “Father God, thank you for the truth of your holy word. Thank you for the evidence of your existence. Give me wisdom to apply your word to my life. Help me to share the Good News of salvation with the world. In Jesus name – Amen”
