Christian Genesis "Holy Spirit" Devotionals

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He is the third person of the trinity that is the Father, Son, and Spirit. He is sent from God to counsel true believers in Christ. As Jesus says in John 15:26, “When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me. WEB”

God’s Holy Spirit counsels the minds and hearts of each believer. It is the pure, righteous Spirit of God. We receive the Spirit upon repentance and baptism. Scripture teaches this in Acts 2:38 which says, “Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. WEB”

Each believer’s body is a temple for the Spirit of God. We read this in Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 3:16 says of the repentant in Christ, “Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? WEB” For this reason, we keep our bodies and minds pure to serve God.

As Christ taught his disciples more than two thousand years ago, the Holy Spirit instructs believers today. Through the counsel and direction of God’s Spirit, we display the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Scripture lists these in Galatians 5:22-23 which states, “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. WEB”
