One Who Believes

One Who Believes

One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36 WEB

There are no perfect men. No one lives life without committing sin. Paul teaches in Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God. WEB” In addition, we read in Psalm 14:3, “They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one. WEB”

All men sin and our sin separates us from the righteousness of God. Further, scripture teaches in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. KJV” The gift of eternal life comes to anyone who believes in Christ and follows his commandments.

Man was not created to be in rebellion to God. But when the first man, Adam, disobeyed God, humanity fell into rebellion. We read of God’s command to Adam and his warning of the consequence of disobedience in Genesis 2:17 which says, “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it; for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die. WEB”

Original Sin

When Adam and his Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit, the human family fell into sin in rebellion and disobedience to God. And as previously stated, the wages, or consequence of sin is death. This is, of course, known as the original sin.

But, for anyone who believes, God made a provision for the forgiveness of sin. The first Adam disobeyed and fell into sin. But the last Adam, Jesus Christ, came to pay the price for our sin on the cross so that in him we might have eternal life. As we read in John 3:16, “ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. KJV”

John 3:18 says, “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. KJV” This makes clear the notion that one who believes is saved. Without belief in Christ, as we live in sin, condemnation or separation from God is the only other alternative.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for my salvation in Jesus Christ. As one who believes, thank you for paying the price for my sins. Give me strength and wisdom to live in obedience to your will In Jesus’ name – Amen”
