Who Will Roll Away the Stone?

Who Will Roll Away the Stone?

and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” Mark 16:3 NIV

When three women who were followers of Jesus went to anoint his body with spices after his death, they wondered who would be able to roll away the stone that closed his tomb. But when they arrived, they found that the stone had already been moved. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome were shocked to see a young man in a white robe sitting in the tomb.

Afraid, they were reassured by the young man. He said that they should not be alarmed and informed them that Jesus had risen from the dead. But the women could not shake their feeling of fear and quickly left the tomb.

God Will Provide

Have you ever needed help and not known where to turn? The women in this account did not know how they would roll away the stone, but they faithfully went to the tomb to honor the Lord. When they arrived, they did not need any help with the stone because God had already made a way for it to be removed. When we have trouble, God is faithful to provide a way out of it. As we read in Psalm 121:2, “My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. NIV”

Are you struggling with an obstacle, or maybe a habit you need removed from your life? Honor the Lord with your faith. Your problem may seem impossible to overcome, but with God, all things are possible. Go to the Lord and find the power of the resurrected Christ. As he defeated sin and death, Jesus will help us overcome whatever stands in the way of living Godly lives.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for the gift of salvation that comes from my belief in the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Lead me into a life that honors you. Help me to roll away the stones that stand between me and my acceptable relationship with you. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
