We Are His Workmanship

We Are His Workmanship

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 WEB

God made each of us with a purpose in mind. We are his workmanship.Paul teaches in the tenth verse of the second chapter of Ephesians that God created the followers of Christ to do good works as the result of our salvation in Jesus Christ. Before the foundation of the world, God planned our redemption in Jesus. From the very beginning of time, God intended that we demonstrate his love and mercy to others, that we would glorify him through our redeemed lives in his grace and righteousness.

God created all things. We are his workmanship. We read in Genesis 1:26, “God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. WEB” Made in the image of God, we are a special part of his creation, more like him than anything else.

When we read the Creator’s words, “Let us make man,” we understand that he means himself as Father, his Son, Jesus Christ , and his Holy Spirit. Further, we read of Jesus Christ in John 1:1-3, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him. Without him, nothing was made that has been made.WEB” In Christ Jesus, we are his workmanship in both creation and redemption.

Those Who the Father Gives Me

Also, God created a portion of people to belong to Jesus. We read in John 6:37, “All those who the Father gives me will come to me. Him who comes to me I will in no way throw out. WEB” Those of us who hear the gospel of Christ and accept it through faith were predestined to adoption into the family of God. The Lord created us to do his will here on earth. It isn’t that we are saved by our works but that our good deeds are the direct result of our salvation by the grace of God.

It is interesting to note that God planned our lives before our births. The Lord has a unique plan for each of us. God has a specific purpose that he equips us to fulfill in his Spirit. As we read in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, “ Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord. There are various kinds of workings, but the same God, who works all things in all. WEB” We are his workmanship, created to carry out the will of God here on earth.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for my salvation in Jesus Christ. Thank you for the plan you have for my life. Guide me with your Holy Spirit. Lead me to do your will. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
