Through One Man

Through One Man

Therefore as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; so death passed to all men, because all sinned. Romans 5:12 WEB

Sin and death entered into the world through one man with Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Through one man, humans inherit a rebellious, sinful disposition. As sinful individuals, we also inherit a death sentence. But, we also have an opportunity to turn away from our sins and reconcile with God through the blood of Jesus Christ. As Paul wrote in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. KJV”

Paul points to sin entering into the world through one man to contrast fallen man with our Savior. As sin entered the world through Adam, God’s grace entered the world through Jesus Christ. Through one man, our sins are forgiven when we repent and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Through Jesus Christ

With Adam, life gave way to death because of sin. But with Christ, death gave way to life in the resurrection of our sinless Savior. Jesus Christ defeated sin and death on the cross at Calvary. He paid the price for our transgressions. Jesus received the wages for our sins. In doing so, eternal life passed through one man to all who place their faith in him as the risen Savior of mankind.

Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. WEB” As we read in Acts 4:12, “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved! WEB” As sin came through one man into all of humanity, through one man, Jesus Christ, God offers salvation to all of mankind.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for the truth of your holy word. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness. Guide me to do your will. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to you. In Jesus name – Amen”
