The Throne of God

The Throne of God

There will be no curse anymore. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will serve him. Revelation 22:3 WEB

The twenty-second chapter of Revelation begins with a description of the restoration of Eden from the throne of God. In the garden where God made the first man, mankind fell from right standing with God by the original sin of Adam. He and his wife ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which God prohibited them to do. As a result of living in rebellion to God’s command, Adam and Eve as well as subsequent humanity fell under a curse.

Through Adam’s disobedience to the will of God, sin and death entered into the world. The Bible records God’s response to Adam in Genesis 3:17 as it reads, “To Adam he said, “Because you have listened to your wife’s voice, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground for your sake. In toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. WEB”

Removing the Curse

Receiving consequences for their disobedience from the throne of God, our Creator removed Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden and human history began under the penalty of our fallen nature. The curse that Adam received continues today. But it will not always be that man is cursed.

Revelation 22:3 reveals the Lord’s lifting of the curse that mankind received through rebellion to God. On the cross, Jesus Christ defeated sin and death. The original Adam caused the fall of mankind but Jesus restored mankind to right standing with God through his sacrifice on the cross. Upon Christ’s return from the throne of God, the Lord will lift the curse that ground is under and restore Eden. The faithful servants of God will again live in paradise.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for the promise of restoration. Thank you for my salvation in Jesus Christ. Give me wisdom and strength to live according to your will. Guide me to serve your purpose. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
