The Mind of Christ

The Mind of Christ

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Philippians 2:5 KJV

What should we think? What should we believe concerning our relationship with God? Jesus, who lived without sin, having the very nature of God himself, did not consider himself equal to God. Instead, he humbled himself and displayed the qualities of a servant. He served the Lord and his fellow man. He submitted to the will of God and submitted to human authority. Revolutionary as he was, he was not rebellious in any way.

As Christians, we are called to think and behave in the same way, serving God and our fellow man. We are to love God with all our heart and soul and love one another as we love ourselves. We live humble lives of service. The attitude of the believer reflects the mind of Jesus Christ.

The word of God informs our beliefs. That is why it is so important to know the scriptures and to have a personal relationship with the Lord understanding the mind of Christ. Seeking the Father in prayer and meditating over his holy word, we grow in understanding and develop our beliefs, conforming them to the truth revealed by God.

A Life of Service

Jesus took the form of a servant, lived obediently, and died innocent on the cross. His humble life of service led him to be glorified in the Lord. Christians do not focus on worldly things. In the mind of Christ, we focus on the things of God living lives of service to our Creator and to our fellow man. Humbling ourselves and following the example of Christ, we will be lifted up in the end, spending eternity with the Lord in heaven.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for the example of Jesus Christ. Renew my mind to think and believe in a way that is pleasing to you. Give me wisdom and understanding that I will make good decisions and live a life that is pleasing to you. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
