Saved Through Him

Saved Through Him

For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. John 3:17 WEB

Jesus makes clear with the words “saved through him,” referring to himself, that God desires reconciliation rather than condemnation for sinners. The preceding verse is perhaps the most famous scripture of all. It is, of course, John 3:16 which reads, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. KJV”

We get to choose whether we are obedient or disobedient to the will of God. We choose life or death based upon our willingness or refusal to place our faith in the love of God. However, the Lord does not want anyone to be destroyed. This scripture demonstrates the grace and love of God. The Lord does not want to condemn anyone, he wants to save us from our fallen state. He wants us to accept Christ, turn from sin and receive eternal life.

Restored to Righteousness

The bible states in Romans 3:23 that we are all sinners, saying, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.  KJV” Our sin separates us from God, but we are restored to righteousness by the grace of God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The consequence of sin is death, but Jesus took our place and paid for our sins with his death on the cross.

God wants to forgive humanity for its rebelliousness, and yet he gives us the freedom to choose or to reject this offer. We serve a merciful and loving God. Although we don’t deserve it, the Lord made a way for us to be reconciled to him. In repentance from sin with faith in Jesus Christ, the believer is saved through him.

Prayer: “Father God, you are faithful and merciful. Thank you for the gift of salvation. Thank you for sending Jesus Christ to save me from my sin. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to you. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
