Prayer and Petition

Prayer and Petition

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6 WEB

Should we be worried? As children of God, the answer is a resounding “no!” Paul indicates that we should not be worried or anxious about anything. In contrast to that, we should pray and petition, giving thanks as we make our appeals known to God. We should demonstrate our faith that God will provide for our needs. As sincere believers, we have nothing to worry about. Even though we may suffer trials and tribulations, we know that Jesus has overcome the problems of this world.

Jesus Gives Peace

To demonstrate our faith, we must give up worry and anxiety. 2 Timothy 1:7 reads, “For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. WEB” When we accept the truth of Jesus Christ, we are given the Holy Spirit. Fear falls away and is replaced with the peace that only Jesus can give.

If fear and anxiety overwhelm you, they are the enemy of salvation. So, what should we do when our adversary attacks in this way? The bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:7 saying, “casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. WEB” Through prayer and petition, cast your cares unto Jesus and he will bear the burden. Believe in the salvation that comes from the sacrifice on the cross. Nothing evil can touch you. We are destined for heaven.

This does not mean that our lives will be trouble free, but God will give us strength to endure the trials of life. Turn to the Lord with thanksgiving through prayer and petition knowing with certainty that our heavenly Father will provide what you need to overcome life’s circumstances. Be grateful and know that God will pull you through to victory.

Prayer: “Father God, guide me to do your will here on Earth. Thank you for giving me everything I will need for today. Lead me away from the things that do not please you and thank you for delivering me from the troubles of this world. I cast my cares on Christ and thank you for the blessings that you give. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
