Open My Eyes

Open My Eyes

Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things out of your law. Psalm 119:18 WEB

The word of God is our daily bread. It is the spiritual food we consume to build our faith and develop a stronger relationship with God. The scriptures teach us what we need to know to live lives that are pleasing to our creator.

The Psalmist asks the Lord to “open my eyes,” that he may better understand the word of God. We should be careful to meditate on scripture and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to help us accurately understand what we read in the bible. Correctly understanding scripture opens our eyes, giving us insight into the will of God. It is our responsibility to put this understanding into daily practice in our lives with the help of the Holy Spirit.

He Received His Sight

When Saul was converted on the road to Damascus, he was blinded for three days. Before Saul’s baptism, we read in Acts 9:18, “Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he received his sight. He arose and was baptized. WEB”

Scripture teaches that before Saul, who became Paul, could serve as an apostle, he had to have his sight restored. After his encounter with Jesus, Paul saw things differently. Before his conversion, he had persecuted Christians, but after, he was transformed into a great apostle of Christ.

Prayer: “Father God, you are holy. Your ways are greater than mine. Open my eyes. Help me to see clearly, understanding your word as you intend, so I can live a life that is pleasing to you. Help me to accomplish your will for my life. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
