But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. Isaiah 57:20-21 KJV
Do you have peace in your soul? Peace requires that a person be calm. There is no peace when living in conflict with others. For anyone restlessly thinking evil thoughts, peace is impossible. The peace that comes from the Lord is permanent, always accessible. Permanent peace cannot be experienced through wealth, business, or worldly pleasure. There is no permanent peace in pride or the flattery of the world.
The sinner is always under the influence of raging passions. Having a lot of material success leads to fear of losing what has been gained. Businesses that boomed last year may fail this year. Momentary pleasures of the flesh fade quickly and leave a person wanting for more. The self-satisfaction of pride gives way to insecurity. There truly is no peace for the wicked.
The Lord Gives Peace
On the other hand, the peace that comes from the Lord is a lasting peace. As Christ said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. NIV” God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. We can always count on his way and his will. When we live in accordance with his word, we are anchored to the rock that is Jesus Christ and live in his peace.
Do you need the peace that only comes from Jesus? Jesus Christ has the power and the will to give peace to anyone who believes in him. When the Lord rebuked the wind and waves in Mark 4:39 saying, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. WEB” Although there is no peace for the wicked, when we repent from sin and turn to the Lord, he calms the storm and gives us peace.
Prayer: “Father God, I am troubled. My sin separates me from you. I believe in Jesus Christ and choose to turn away from sin. Give me peace. Lead me to live in obedience to your will. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
