In the Love of God

In the Love of God

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 1:21 KJV

As Christians, how do we stay strong in times of adversity? Jude has the answer. Keep the focus on God and do his will, seeking the mercy of Jesus Christ. When we are separated from God because of sin or worldly ambitions, we lose our way and can easily become overwhelmed.

Submit to God

If we allow it, sin can take away our peace of mind. Through legalism, false doctrine, and carnality, a Christian who isn’t focused on the love of God can become sidetracked. Forgetting the grace of God, legalism may lead a believer to feel condemned. False doctrine distracts from the truth of God’s word, misleading those who receive it. Carnality drives a wedge between the believer and God through sinful acts. To overcome sin, do what James 4:7 recommends as it reads, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. KJV”

Be committed to staying within the love of God. Pray in the Spirit without ceasing. The Lord will protect you and guide you on the straight and narrow path that leads to life. Put on the full armor of God described in Ephesians 6:14-16, “Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. WEB” These tools will secure you in the love of God.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for loving me. I turn to you alone. You are my strength and my defense. Guide me through the difficulties of life and shelter me through the storms. Give me the wisdom and courage to do your will in all things. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
