He Who Comforts You

He Who Comforts You

“I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who shall die, and of the son of man who will be made as grass? Isaiah 51:12 WEB

When we face opposition and adversity from the people of the world, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. In life, we all have traumas. At times, there are insults and attacks that are intentional and cruel. After all, we live in a fallen world. The words we consider from the prophet Isaiah about “he who comforts you” remind us of who we are as believers. We are members of the family of God.

Children of God

As children of the Living God, we receive comfort from him. Isaiah reminds the reader that the creator of the heavens and earth is he who comforts you and me. As King David says in Psalm 27:1, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? KJV”

As followers of Christ, we do well to remember that God is always in control. We are comforted by knowing that our worldly adversaries bring temporary troubles. On the other hand, he who comforts you, provides permanent peace.

And so, as God’s redeemed children, when people give you less than their best, demonstrate the love that God gives. The most difficult and wicked men will die as all men do. We have an advantage over anyone who does not live for the Lord. Even if we die today, we will not remain dead. Thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we will live eternally in heaven with our Father.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for the gift of salvation. Comfort me when my foes attack. Guide me to live a life that is pleasing to you. I know that I am yours. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
