Christ The Lord

Christ The Lord

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Luke 2:11-12 KJV

About the time of the birth of Jesus, the bible tells us that the Roman Emperor ordered a census. Because of this, Joseph traveled from Nazareth in Galilee Bethlehem in Judea to register his new family. Mary, pregnant with Jesus, and pledged to marry Joseph traveled with him. When they arrived at Bethlehem the time came for the baby to be born.

Good News of Great Joy

An angel of the Lord came to nearby shepherds watching fields that night. The angel glowed with great light which frightened the shepherds. In Luke 2:10, the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. WEB” The angel then revealed the reason for celebration saying, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. KJV” The shepherds learned where and how to find the newborn Savior, “wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. KJV”

Prophecy Fulfilled

The location fulfilled prophecy of the place of the Messiah’s birth from Micah 5:2 which says, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times. WEB”

The birth of Jesus fulfilled scriptures that foretold the arrival of Christ the Lord including prophecy recorded in Isaiah 7:14 which says, “Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. WEB” Immanuel means, “God with us.” Also, Jesus’ birth fulfilled prophecy from Isaiah 9:6, “For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. WEB”

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for the witness of the nativity story and the birth of Christ the Lord, my Savior. Thank you for salvation, that I am born again and saved through grace. Be with all believers and keep us safe as we celebrate the birth and life of your son, our Savior. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
