Children of God

Children of God

See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him. 1 John 3:1 WEB

God loves the followers of Christ so completely that he calls us his children. In this scripture, John is encouraging believers to understand the love that our heavenly Father has for each believer. When we consider the gift of salvation we receive through belief in Jesus Christ, we get an even deeper understanding of the great love that the Lord has for us.

Jesus confirms that we are God’s children, when he says in Matthew 23:9. “And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. NIV” In addition, Romans 8:17 calls the saved, “joint heirs with Christ.”

Our Heavenly Father

As children of God and joint heirs with Christ, we receive the inheritance of eternal life in heaven. On the road to receive our promise, we grow more and more like the Lord as we mature in our relationship with him, our heavenly Father.

John explains that the world doesn’t know the children of God because they do not know the Father. It is important that we share the good news about Jesus Christ with those who do not yet know the Lord. We are made children of God because of our belief in Jesus. Remember John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. WEB”

As a believer, share the good news about Christ with the lost, in hopes that they will believe in Jesus and become children of God.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for making me a joint heir in the kingdom of heaven. You are loving and righteous. Guide me as I do your will on Earth. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
