As for me, I shall see your face in righteousness. I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with seeing your form. Psalm...

What is repentance and why is it important? Repentance is turning from sin and toward obedience to the word and will of God. Genuine Christian repentance requires the heartfelt conviction of sin. It means that a person deeply feels remorse for their misdeeds. Without this, there is no salvation in Jesus Christ.
With the acknowledgement of wrongdoing, true repentance takes place when we change our ways in submission to God. It is the Holy Spirit of God that calls us to repentance. Jesus said of the Spirit in John 16:8, “When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment. WEB” Without the prompting of the Holy Spirit, men do not repent.
Jesus began his ministry with a call to repentance. We read in Matthew 4:17, “From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” In addition, Jesus famously said in Luke 5:32, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. WEB”
God is the author of righteousness. It is because of our Creator that we know the difference between right and wrong. When our actions are inconsistent with the will of God, the righteousness of God’s Spirit convicts us of our sin. In turn, we are met with an opportunity to repent or continue down the path of disobedience.
