The Throne of Grace

The Throne of Grace

Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 WEB

We all need the grace of God. As we read in Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God. WEB” Fortunately for us, Jesus Christ fully understands what it means to be human. Beyond that, he paid the price for our failings. Jesus not only understands our struggles, but he also overcame them personally in his life and death on the cross. In his resurrection, we have hope of a future in eternity with God.

We are so assured of the love of God, that we approach the throne of grace with boldness. When we experience trials, drawing near to God, we find help in our time of need. God sees all things and knows all things. Drawing near to him in our need, we are encouraged to live lives that are consistent with his word. Christ showed us the way to God. It is our responsibility to follow him and his example. Because he lives, he can and will help us through adversity.

Jesus Christ As High Priest

The high priest that intercedes for us at the throne of grace is Christ himself. He knows our weakness and pain from a human perspective because he lived the life of a man. When we approach the throne of God with sincere prayer and petition, we are confident of his mercy. We know his love and forgiveness because he died for us. We know his grace because we did not earn forgiveness but rather, it is a gift from God.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for the gift of salvation that comes from my faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you that I can draw near to the throne of grace with boldness. Keep me in your way and lead me to live a life that is consistent with your will. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
