In the Beginning Was the Word

In the Beginning Was the Word

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him. Without him, nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it. John 1:1-5 WEB

This verse about Jesus Christ alludes to the creation story in Genesis. At the beginning of time, God spoke the worlds into existence through his Word. Jesus Christ is the Word. As we read in John 1:14, “The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. WEB”

The Way the Truth and the Life

Jesus came into the world with a divine purpose. He called sinners to repentance and reconciled the faithful to God. As Christ says in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become new creations, born again in Christ, made acceptable to God through his sacrifice on the cross.

Our faith in Christ and dedication to the will of God leads to eternal life. Jesus is the light of the world, and his light cannot be overcome by darkness. The light of Christ extinguishes the darkness of sin. In the beginning was the Word, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer: “Father God, thank you for your grace and the gift of salvation. Thank you for your Holy Word. Give me wisdom to do your will all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
